A model that represents a crime event as a chronological sequence of actions that occur before, during and after the main criminal act.

Where do crime scripts originate from?

Derek Cornish, a hero of mine, introduced scripts to environmental criminology in 1994. The concept was originally proposed by Schank and Abelson in 1977.

Why is crime scripting useful?

It encourages you to be very specific about what happens during the crime event. The generic structure of crime scripts also makes you more likely to notice knowledge gaps.
